Wonder League Fun
My third grade Wonder League club finished the scroll quest on Monday. Today we started more open ended challenges. The three for today were: design a pen holder and have Dash draw shapes on chart paper; design a plow and have Dash collect Lego tires left along the grid and return them to the designated spot; and traverse an obstacle course, find Dot and play a sound.
Students had quite a bit of fun figuring out how to use tilt head to control the plow and pen. We had a great many fail forward moments and relished in those moments as a chance to really learn how to code. Our closure for the day was describing what they learned as they failed forward in each of the challenges.
I plan to do the same activities with my 5th grade club tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how this older group of students approaches the same challenges.
