In this workshop, you’ll explore several platforms for creating interactive lessons that enrich and extend student learning and encourage student collaboration.
Getting Started with Coding for Elementary Teachers
Innovate@BVSD & InnEdCO, June 2017
Explore how coding can help your students to develop strong teamwork skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills. We will look at Code.org and Kodable to guide elementary students through understanding key aspects of coding: sequencing, events, loops and conditionals. Then we will explore ways to extend student thinking through differentiated coding task cards and robotics. Come learn and play with us!
Chromebooks in the Classroom
Peak to Peak Charter School PD Day, April 7, 2017
Come create a plan for integrating Chromebooks successfully in your classroom. Learn how to setup accounts, install apps and extensions, and set up norms for using Chromebooks in your classroom. April 2015. Boulder Valley School District Digi Day
Elementary students often struggle with explaining their thinking or giving step by step instructions on how to do a task. Creating videos increases student engagement by adding "fun" to these necessary skills. In this workshop you will see examples of student created explanatory videos; learn how to create simple explanatory videos; and explore a variety of iPad and tablet tools for creating these simple videos. In this workshop, you will create your first explanatory video and walk away with ideas for implementing this high engagement technique in your classroom.
Help your elementary students achieve mastery of key geometry and measurement content with hands on engaging applications. Coding and robotics give students authentic tasks which require students to apply important geometry and measurement concepts.
Technology and the Gifted
Explore ways to differentiate with technology. You will walk way with strategies for using technology to engage multiple intelligences and differentiate by readiness, expression, and learning style.
